When I completed the lapel pins for Petscii Robots, it dawned on me that I could do something similar for AW11 enthusiasts. I started with a photo of my blue 88sc in my driveway and got started. After my wife took a look at the photo, she told me that it would not be a good representation of the AW11. I was too close to the car and the front end looked too large while the rear end was indistinct. I drove to an area where I could get a higher view of the car at the angle she felt was more flattering. This wound up being the basis for the keychains. Unfortunately I had removed the C-Pillar trim a few years ago as I planned to have the car repainted and then Covid happened :( I worked with a good friend Cayetano who was kind enough to help me get similar angles of the car with the C-Pillar trim and the eyebrows temporarily installed which I had to photoshop in to the original image. After about a month of going back and forth with designers going over every single line of the design, I decided I would like to create a proper display box as well. I printed out a mock up keychain and used that to figure out the size of the box and payed homage to the original mascot key boxes of the 80s with the design. I put out a call to the mr2 group for anybody who might be able to help with providing me original font text and MR2 bird which I could use for the project. Fortunately for me Howard Betts (U.K.) answered the call and not only provided me with the image and the text, he provided virtual mock ups and final layout for the boxes.
